Hello! I’m Jennifer. I am an illustrator and writer living in the Pacific Northwest.
I grew up in a smallish West Texas town. As a kid, I loved to spend time with my grandmother who often painted with watercolors, and encouraged me join her. We would paint flowers and bunnies in the attic where she had a small studio set up. My grandmother’s greatest gift to me was her love of art and creating. My mother always told me that I should write and illustrate picture books, but of course, I had to find my own path. I ended up earning both a BFA and MFA in metal smithing and jewelry, and spent 15 years as a studio jeweler making one of a kind and small scale production jewelry.
Life’s twists and turns led me to relocate to Seattle where I fell in love with the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, and in my own garden. My love of nature deeply influences my artistic practice. Even though I have always loved stories and drawing, my passion for children’s books was reignited after I became a mother and began reading to my own kids. I am so excited that I now get to pass on my own love for the natural world, art, and stories to the next generation.
